PM Narendra Modi embarked on a significant development mission on July 18, launching and inaugurating multiple projects worth over ₹12,000 crore across Bihar and West Bengal.

In Bihar, the Prime Minister addressed a massive public meeting at Gandhi Maidan in Motihari, East Champaran, marking his 53rd visit to the state since assuming office. State BJP President Dilip Jaiswal emphasized that this visit signifies Bihar’s priority in the PM’s agenda. Projects worth ₹7,196 crore were unveiled, covering crucial sectors such as railways, national highways, roads, rural development, IT, and animal husbandry.

Of the total, ₹5,398 crore was allocated to railway development, and ₹1,173 crore to national highways and road upgrades. IT infrastructure projects were launched at a cost of ₹63 crore to strengthen digital connectivity across the state. In addition, ₹162 crore was disbursed through direct transfers to 40,000 Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana beneficiaries, while 12,000 families received keys to their new homes. The PM also announced ₹400 crore in assistance for 61,500 self-help groups, highlighting a strong focus on women-led rural development.

Later in the day, PM Modi visited Durgapur in West Bengal, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth over ₹5,000 crore, spanning the oil and gas, power, road, and rail sectors. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi shared, “Looking forward to being among the people of West Bengal… Projects cover oil and gas, power, railways, and roads.”

With West Bengal assembly elections around the corner, this high-profile visit underscores the Centre’s focus on infrastructure-driven growth and political outreach.
