Delhi Police arrested television actor Ashish Kapoor, known for his roles in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Saraswatichandra, and Bandini, in Pune in connection with an alleged rape case.
Officials said the Civil Lines police station in Delhi registered the case after a woman accused Kapoor of sexually assaulting her during a house party in the national capital in the second week of August 2025. The complainant told police that Kapoor assaulted her inside a bathroom, and the host’s wife allegedly attacked her when she came out.
Police said the complainant had initially named Ashish Kapoor, his friend, the friend’s wife, and two unidentified men in her FIR. She later revised her statement, alleging that only Kapoor raped her and recorded the incident on video. Investigators said they have not found any footage so far but are examining digital evidence, including CCTV and phone records.
Police tracked Kapoor across multiple locations before detaining him in Pune. “We traced the accused and arrested him after confirming his movements. A senior officer said police have brought him to Delhi and are continuing the investigation.
Authorities are seeking legal opinion and probing all possible angles, verifying whether other individuals were involved as mentioned in the initial complaint. Investigators are carefully reviewing the woman’s revised statements and collecting testimonies from other guests to reconstruct the sequence of events.
