The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections 2025 concluded with a thumping victory for the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the RSS. The ABVP won three of the four key posts, including the coveted President’s seat, while the Congress-backed National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) managed to secure only the Vice President’s position.
ABVP’s Aryan Maan registered a remarkable victory, defeating NSUI’s Jocelyn Nandita Chaudhary by a margin of 16,196 votes to claim the post of President. Kunal Chaudhary of the ABVP emerged victorious as Secretary with 23,779 votes, while Deepika Jha sealed the Joint Secretary’s seat by defeating her rival, Lavkush Bhadana. On the other hand, NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla provided some relief to his party by defeating ABVP’s Govind Tanwar with 29,339 votes to become the new Vice President.

The DUSU election witnessed a voter turnout of 39.45 percent, with over 2.75 lakh eligible students casting their ballots across 52 centres. A total of 21 candidates were in the fray for the four top posts, making the contest intense and high-stakes.
Left-backed groups, including the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and the All India Students’ Association (AISA), failed to open their account, despite forming a joint front.
Reacting to the results, NSUI national president Varun Choudhary congratulated his party’s winning candidate but alleged that the elections were contested on an uneven playing field, with NSUI facing not just ABVP but also the combined might of the Delhi University administration, Delhi government, Centre, RSS-BJP, and Delhi Police.
The results mark a significant comeback for ABVP, which reclaimed the President’s post after NSUI’s 2024 victory. With three out of four seats, the ABVP has once again established its dominance in the DU student political landscape.
