Big Infra Push: PM Modi to Inaugurate ₹11,000 Cr Projects in Delhi on August 17

PM Modi to Inaugurate ₹11,000 Cr Highway Projects on Aug 17

Travel to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) from Noida and NCR is about to get faster and smoother. On Sunday, August 17, 2025, PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major road projects worth nearly ₹11,000 crore — the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway.

The projects are part of the government’s vision to decongest Delhi, improve connectivity, and create world-class infrastructure. Together, these corridors will drastically reduce travel time and ease traffic across the capital and NCR.

UER-II: Delhi’s New Outer Ring Road

The 76-kilometre Urban Extension Road-II, billed as Delhi’s new outer ring road, connects Alipur to Mahipalpur near IGI Airport. Built at a cost of about ₹5,580 crore, the 4-to-6 lane highway links areas like Mundka, Najafgarh, Bakkarwala, and Dwarka while providing access to major routes such as Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Rohtak, and Sonipat. Once operational, it is expected to ease congestion on Delhi’s Ring Roads, Mukarba Chowk, and Dhaula Kuan.

Dwarka Expressway: Faster Access to IGI & Gurugram

Alongside, the PM Modi will also inaugurate packages three and four of the Dwarka Expressway, a 10.1-km stretch in Delhi developed at a cost of around ₹5,360 crore. The section includes a 5.1 km tunnel connecting to IGI Airport, promising Noida-to-airport travel in just 20 minutes. This project also integrates with Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, Delhi Metro’s Blue & Orange lines, and the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, ensuring seamless multi-modal connectivity.

A Game-Changer for NCR

Together, the UER-II and Dwarka Expressway will not only save travel time but also boost industrial connectivity, speed up goods movement, and provide a sustainable alternative to Delhi’s overloaded arterial roads. With these new links, commuting across Delhi, Gurugram, and NCR is set to become faster, smoother, and more efficient.
