Delhiites and tourists will be able to enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the national capital, thanks to a new eco-tourism initiative by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). In the next two months, hot air balloon rides will be launched at four key locations across Delhi — Yamuna Sports Complex, Commonwealth Games Sports Complex, Asita, and Baansera Park.
The initiative is aimed at promoting eco-tourism and showcasing the city’s restored green zones and riverfront developments from the sky. Each site will allow up to four hours of flying time daily, giving people a unique chance to experience Delhi like never before — floating above lush landscapes, heritage zones, and the serene Yamuna River.

The operations will be managed by a private agency under a revenue-sharing model, with the ticket revenue going directly into DDA’s account to ensure transparency. Each launch site will be allocated a 3600 sqm operational area, and the project has been awarded for an initial period of three years, extendable up to nine years.
This move aligns with the larger vision of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to reconnect citizens with Delhi’s natural spaces. Areas like Asita and Baansera, once encroached or used as dumping grounds, have now been transformed into beautiful green parks and bamboo-themed landscapes as part of the Yamuna Riverfront Rejuvenation Project.
In addition to hot air balloon rides, the DDA is also developing a ferry service on the Yamuna River along a 4-6 km stretch from Sonia Vihar to Jagatpur, further enhancing tourism and leisure infrastructure in the capital.
With skies opening up for adventure, Delhi is all set to become a hub for nature, recreation, and eco-conscious tourism.
